B Tech (Bachelor of Technology) in Biotechnology

Overview

Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology offers a balanced curriculum which gives equal importance to life science subjects such as Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology etc. and engineering subjects like Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Thermodynamics, Mass Transfer etc. The course offer in-depth understanding of the concepts in Industrial Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Agriculture Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. After a B. Tech degree, students can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs and institutions in India. However, most Indian students tend to go abroad to pursue their masters or doctorate studies in Biotechnology and allied fields. Some students also shift to MBA and enter the world of business, finance and banking as their engineering background gives them the required quantitative skills to excel in these sectors. Also, many students shift to software through on-campus placements.
After completing the course, B.Tech graduates will know how to utilize the potential of science and engineering in analyzing and resolving complex problems to derive fruitful benefits for the society. The graduate should be able to employ latest tools and technologies to the biological sciences for having a desired product beneficial for the mankind and environment. The graduate will acquire skills to be a team leader having exposure to handle and manage projects along with their ability to perform in multidisciplinary research and industrial set-ups. Additionally our graduates would be skilled enough to excel in Biotechnology especially in the field of genetic engineering, recombinant DNA Technology and Molecular Biology.
