B Tech (Bachelor of Technology) in Electrical Engineering

Overview


The Department offers two courses Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering. It strives continuously for excellence in education and research through its vision to meet the challenges of new technological advances and to provide update knowledge in the state of the art technology, re-orientation and upgradation of the curriculum to the level of industry relevant learning and training.

Since its inception, the department has contributed in a big way to the society by providing technical manpower for various fields in India and abroad. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate.

Under graduate engineering students have access to a wide array of subjects including Network Analysis and Synthesis, Electromagnetic Theory, Electrical Machines, Power System, Control System,  Analog & Digital Electronics, Power Electronics & Drives, Utilization of Electrical Machines, High Voltage Engineering, Communication Engineering and Software engineering, VLSI, Image and Video Processing. The faculty of the department continues to provide new frontiers of technical knowledge to the students by imparting quality education and research. The faculty is encouraged to associate as members of team with other faculty, research engineers or with faculty in interdisciplinary areas to take initiatives with collective responsibility in all the relevant academic and R&D dimensions: teaching, curriculum development, graduate research supervision, organization of conferences, workshops, technical symposium etc.

Eligibility


4 years

B.Tech Electrical Engineering

The Candidates should have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent Examination in five subjects taken together including compulsory subjects of Physics, Mathematics and one subject of chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science & English with 60% marks in aggregate (40% marks in case of SC/ ST Category).

OR

Should have passed with minimum 60% marks (40% in the case of SC/ ST category) in Diploma in Engg./ Tech., of three years or more duration from any recognized Board of Technical Education/ University or its equivalent Diploma examination.

3 years

B.Tech Electrical Engineering Lateral Entry to 2nd Year

a. Passed Diploma examination with at least 60% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology

b. Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject.

c. Provided that the students belonging to B.Sc. Stream, shall clear the subjects Engineering Graphics/ Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the First Year Engineering Programme along with the Second year subjects.

d. Provided that the students belonging to B.Sc. Stream shall be considered only after filling the supernumerary seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma stream.

Note:

  1. The Fee will have to be deposited at the time of Counselling.
  2. University Charges will be extra as per University norms.
  3. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
  4. There will be an annual increase of 7% in tuition fee.
  5. Students Fund for all the students is Rs.2,000/- p.a.
  6. Life time Alumni Membership fee is Rs. 4,000/-.
  7. Hostel & Transport Charges will be extra.
  8. Students who wish to leave the Institute mid-stream, will have to deposit the fee for the remaining period of the course as per judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka & PA lnamdar case.
