The Candidates should have passed with minimum 50% marks (45% in the case of SC/ ST category) in aggregate in B.Tech or its equivalent examination in the discipline of Engg./ Medical/ Dental/ Pharmacy or M.Sc. in all branches of Science or equivalent examination from any recognized University. Preference will be given to the candidates with B.Tech Bio Tech, Chemical Engg., M.Sc. Chemistry & Biological Science. Non-Medical students will also be required to undergo a prerequisite course in the discipline to be arranged by the University.

M.Tech. Biotechnology or Master of Technology in Biotechnology is a postgraduate Biotechnology course that involves the use of living organisms and bio-processes in the field of engineering, technology, medicine and other fields requiring bio-products. The duration of the course is two years. It is an important and valuable one course which opens many career scopes for the students. There are many areas where they can get jobs such as planning, production and management of bio-processing industries. There is a large scale employment in research laboratories run by the government as well as the corporate sector. Other places where they can find employment in specialized biotechnology companies or biotech-related companies such as pharmaceutical firms, food manufacturers, aquaculture and agricultural companies. One can go for higher degree programs in respective subjects for further work.
